Using what she'd learned in that time, she started to track down things she thought were still around. Just hidden. And she showed a startling capacity for being able to find things that haven't been found yet. Seeing all of these ancient, priceless artifacts roused a possessive protectiveness in her, and she began to hoarde things. Though the circle of collectors wasn't exactly small, her name began to grow, and when museums and other private collectors started contacting her about selling or even seeing, it just worsened her obsession. The point has long been reached that collectors know, if rumors start circulating about a new piece, they'd better get on it before Haleigha does, or they'll never see it.
During this time, she didn't lose connections with her family. Though her father was disappointed she hadn't stayed in Deireadh, and she didn't enlighten him to some of her more illegal acts to keep her possessions these days, they remained close. Haleigha was especially close to her younger brother, who'd been a constant at her side as a kid. Annoying in that little sibling way, she was regardless incredibly fond of him and had a patience no one else seemed to feel for his tendency to get into some scrapes. Protective older sister that she was, Haleigha always got him out of whatever trouble he was in, cleaned up his messes, and got him back on his way. That continued into his adulthood too, with the fact that he joined Ailil simply getting an eye roll from her. His scrapes are messier these days, and dirtier, but she's yet to say no to him.
Haleigha continued to search and discover treasure, with an impressive stash that grows every month. She was never quite sure how she came to the attention of Dalton McCenzey, but he was suddenly in her life and quite smoothly managed to take it over. Crazy over him, she even put aside her obsession with old times and objects to be with him. But there was something always subtly wrong with this particular man, not the least of which was that, after three years together, she still couldn't guess and he wouldn't tell her his species. He had an affect on her, where she felt dazed and hypnotized just by his staring at her. He began to get as obsessive and possessive of her as she was of her career objects, and when she started to delve back into that, he tried to stop it. Unable to put up with that, Haleigha left him and resumed her treasure hunting.
The war hit not long after that, and old Deireadh instincts rose up in her and Haleigha went into the fighting. She was spared the worst, as all of her family came out well and intact, though the aftermath was felt everywhere. She stayed home for a while, helping her family and mostly her father recover from it. A year later, Dalton came back into her life. They talked some things over, explained some things, he promised to calm down, and somehow managed to wrangle a promise from her that she'd include him in her searching and discovering.
That particular promise never sat well with her, and she began to resent him as he pushed into the life she'd rather jealously guarded all of these years. But his effect on her was stronger than ever, and she was never really able to say no, until the day he tried to steal one of her new discoveries and go behind her back to deal with it. That angered her beyond belief and, having joined Sirona when it became a House, she used her talents from there to safeguard her treasures by making them disappear to a private stockroom. One only she could access. Dalton hit the roof when he found this out and Haleigha had to admit to herself that he'd never changed, and she suspected he'd been digging information about her career during the time they'd been separated, and he'd decided he wanted a piece of it.
Whatever his problem was, Haleigha left him again, and this time for good. Unable to forgive that kind of betrayal, and a little concerned over his reactions last time, she's vowed to steer clear of him for about the rest of her life. She's returned to AMA now, on search of a new treasure, and seems content to stay on her own this time around.
