Leaving his family for the appropriate training time, Bryant became more entrenched and enthralled with the House he'd chosen. Enamored of the idea of protecting the weak and wielding a big sword, he vowed himself to Deireadh and knew he'd never have any reason to leave it. Though he'd been away from his family for all of this time, so when he finally went back, his mother had slid into the Uilioc depression and was hardly the same woman he remembered. His father was in denial about the whole thing, and his little brother Allen had become... Alberta. Though this new situation threw him a bit, he set about making it right. He made his father realize that something was wrong with his mom, and got her appropriate help and necessary support from her House and other friends. His brother, well, Alberta was happy the way he was, and seemed well-adjusted in his new position in life. As long as he was happy, Bryant was happy to let him remain that way.
Years passed in easy peace. Bryant met a lovely feline woman named Gretchen, and there was an instant if not ever-lasting bond instantly between them. They were together for many decades, an on and off thing, and Bryant had two children with her. Their love was warm and mutual but they both knew nothing permanent could last between them, simply because of basic differences, so Gretchen keeps the kids with her and Bryant sees them often. A prouder parent there never was.
Just before the Third Court War hit, Bryant met a human woman named Renee. She was breathtaking, though not seen so by most of her human brethren, and something about her made Bryant want to hold her close and keep her safe. He courted her by human standards and the more he got to know her, the more that tender, caring feeling turned more sibling-like. It didn't help that she was completely in love with him, especially when the War struck and he was called away to take care of things at home. Knowing it would be a mistake to take Renee with him, he set her up in a nice house with enough money to see her through many months. He'd come to realize that there was not something right there, just a little off in her pretty little head, and he worried about her. But he couldn't deny his urge and need to go take care of the problems plaguing his own people, so he left her behind.
The War was horrible all around and Deireadh suffered deeply, losing its leader and many of its members in the fighting. Watching his comrades fall as they had made him angry and sick, and he decided then he'd put his smarts and book intelligence to something useful. Once the War was over and things were getting back to normal, he enrolled in medical school and decided to become a physiatrist. Something he could help his House with, along with everyone else. He's finished three years so far and is heading straight for the fourth, but taking a small vacation in AMA until the fall semester starts.
